The Śrīmad Bhagawadgītā is a timeless dialogue between Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, offering profound guidance for living with clarity, devotion and purpose. Through 18 chapters and 700 verses, it explores Karma, Jñāna, Bhakti and the path to inner freedom.
It teaches us how to perform our duties with sincerity, surrender the results and remain steady amidst life’s challenges.
For the sādhaka, the Gītā is not merely a scripture to read, but a wisdom to contemplate and practice.
One Verse • One Reflection • One Step Towards the Guru.
Darshan & Contemplation
Shrīmad Bhagawadgītā
Chapter 12, Bhakti Yoga
Chapter 12, Bhakti Yoga, is one of the most loved chapters of the Śrīmad Bhagawad Gītā. Here, Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa reveals Bhakti not merely as an emotion, but as a complete way of living — through remembrance, faith, surrender, selfless action, compassion, humility and inner steadiness. The chapter begins with Arjuna’s sincere question about two approaches to spiritual realisation — devotion to the personal Lord and contemplation of the imperishable.
Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa acknowledges both paths and then gently guides the seeker through a progressive path of devotion. Fix the mind on the Lord. Let us now begin our journey through Chapter 12 — Bhakti Yoga,
One verse, One Reflection and One Step at a time.

The Yoga of Devotion
We began Chapter 12 with Arjuna's question:
Who is the better devotee — one who worships You with devotion, or one who contemplates the unmanifest Absolute?
Krishna's answers gradually takes us from devotion as an idea to devotion as a way of living.
Two approaches — and the practical path of devotion
Verses 1–5
Krishna acknowledges both approaches to the Divine. Those who worship the unmanifest Absolute can also attain the Supreme, but Krishna points out that this path is difficult for one who is identified with the body and the world of experience. For the ordinary seeker, devotion provides a more direct and accessible way. Bhakti therefore begins not with philosophical perfection, but with turning our mind and heart towards the Divine.
When devotion becomes practice?
Verses 6–12
Krishna then gives us a practical progression.
If the mind can remain steadily absorbed in Him, follow that path.If that is difficult, practise. If sustained practice is difficult, dedicate your actions to Him.
If even that is difficult, begin by letting go of attachment to the fruits of action.
This is an important lesson. Krishna does not demand that we become perfect devotees overnight. He gives us steps. We can begin wherever we are. Bhakti therefore becomes something we practise through our everyday actions, not merely something we feel during prayer.
INSPIRATION
“What was Krishna really teaching us across these 20 verses?”
REFLECTION
Where am I on this journey?
Am I trying to steady my mind, practise regularly, dedicate my actions, or learn to let go of the fruits?

“What does devotion look like in a person's life?”
What Does a True Devotee Look Like?
Yesterday, we looked at the first twelve verses of Chapter 12.
Today, we come to perhaps the most beautiful part of Bhakti Yoga. Krishna now describes the qualities of a person who is dear to Him.
Bhagavad Gita | Chapter 12 Verses 13–19
Devotion expressed through lifeKrishna does not describe a devotee by appearance, status or external identity. He describes the qualities of the heart and mind.
A devotee: does not harbour hatred towards any being
is friendly and compassionate
is free from excessive possessiveness and ego
remains balanced in pleasure and pain
is forgiving and content
is steady and self-controlled
does not disturb others and is not easily disturbed
remains balanced in praise and blame
is not excessively dependent upon external circumstances
remains inwardly steady and devoted.
Read these verses slowly. There is something profound here.Krishna is not merely telling us:
“Be devoted to Me.” He is showing us:
“This is what devotion gradually looks like when it becomes part of your life.”
So the question changes. Not only: “How much do I love God?”
But also:“What is my devotion doing to me?”
Does it make me more compassionate? Less reactive? More balanced? Less attached to praise?More accepting of situations I cannot control?
These are questions worth carrying into our own sadhana.
Verse 20
The culmination of BhaktiKrishna concludes this teaching by speaking of those who sincerely follow this dharma of devotion, keeping Him as their highest goal. The chapter has now come full circle.
We began with Arjuna asking: “Which path should I follow?” And Krishna has taken us from the question of the path…to the practice of the path…and finally to the qualities that emerge in one who walks that path sincerely.
Today's Sadhana
Read Verses 13–20 together.
Then pause.Don't try to choose every quality. Choose ONE quality that you would like to consciously practise in your own life. Ask yourself:
“If I truly practised this quality today, what would I do differently?”
Then take one small step.

Chapter 12, Bhakti Yoga
From Study to Sadhana
Today we complete our journey through Chapter 12 — Bhakti Yoga.
For 20 days, we have taken one verse at a time. Today, let us pause and look at the teaching as a whole.Krishna takes us through a beautiful progression:
Question → Path → Practice → Transformation → Devotion.
We began by asking:“Which path should I follow?”
And Chapter 12 gradually brings us to a deeper question:
“What kind of person am I becoming?”
The Master TeachingBhakti is not merely emotion.
Bhakti is not limited to prayer.
Bhakti is a way of living.
It becomes visible in how we think, how we act, how we respond to success and failure, praise and criticism, pleasure and pain.
Today, listen to the Master Audio — Chapter 12
Master Reflection.
As you listen, don't try to remember everything.Just allow one teaching to stay with you.
Today's Sadhana
After reading the summary and listening to the audio, sit quietly for a moment.
Ask yourself:
“What is one teaching from Chapter 12 that I want to carry into my life?”
Choose just one. Practise it quietly. Let the teaching move from the verse…into your thoughts…from your thoughts…into your actions…and from your actions…into the way you live.
